Tamu

Production sound | Short

When African Tamu (16) and her mother arrive in the small Dutch town of Roelofarendsveen after a long journey, she feels ill at ease. She does not know how to conceal her uneasiness in her new surroundings. Tamu soon goes to school, but she cannot relate to the giggling girls in her class. Frustrated and defiant, she argues with her mother. She feels lonely and misunderstood, in this adolescent’s portrait that zooms in on emotional experiences. But then she meets Shona, a cheeky 16-year-old girl with a big mouth and cool friends.
